T.M.J. Syndrome or T.M.D.
(Temporal Mandibular Joint Disfunction)
T.M.J. Syndrome is a cycle of pain, muscle spasm, and joint imbalance where the jaw meets the skull. The results of T.M.D. can include; headaches, earaches, difficulty opening and closing, a clicking or popping in the joint, a dull aching pain around the ear that spreads to the face, and sore or painful jaw muscles.
Often times clenching and grinding are factors that can lead to T.M.D. Occlusal splints, or night guards, are made to treat T.M.D. and restore harmony to the joint.
